Good casino poker players are those who are not dependent upon luck for winning in poker. Depending upon the ability of the poker player to calculate the odds they will be either playing trusting skill or they will play trusting luck.  Luck follows the skilled person most of the time, and it very rarely favors the unskilled person. You need to calculate EV for sure.  Do not bet unless the hand has a positive expected value in casino poker. Players who are aware of EV either play with real strong hands or they are skilled in making others believe that they are holding a better hand.
There are many players who forget the mathematical part in casino poker and they put in their poker chips trusting that they will suddenly get luck and when they loose they get depressed not realizing they were doing the wrong thing.
There are yet another class of people who know the EV, but still they have a lot of difficulty in accepting that they cannot anymore wait and they will have to fold.  They hold too big an ego that they do not fold and eventually lose money.
